April Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteer Coordinator Position
We posted the volunteer coordination job last week and have received multiple resumes in response.
We’ve started the interview process and have several promising candidates interested in the position. I’ve
spoken to several of you, asking if you would be interested in interviewing the candidates as we narrow them down. Thank
you in advance for being part of our decision-making for this important role at LifeGift.
April is Donate Life Month
April promises to be a very busy month for LifeGift! We have something scheduled virtually every day during the
month. Below is a list of some of the key dates:
April 5: We have secured an opportunity with “Great Day Houston” on KHOU-TV, Channel 11 on Monday,
April 5. We have asked some of you to participate and you have agreed. We still need a few more
volunteers to be part of this event, so please let us know if you would be interested and we’ll get you the details.
April 6: The Department of
Public Safety is allowing each OPO in the state of Texas to have a presence in one DPS office on Tuesday,
April 6 from 8 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. We’ve been given permission to set up a table at the DPS office
located at 12220 South Gessner in Houston. If you are interested in helping to staff the table at the DPS office, please
let us know.
April 10: Vital Volunteer, Andy Benavides, will be organizing
an event for the residents of the Polo Club on Cranbook (Greenspoint Area) from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 10. He is looking for
a Spanish-speaking volunteer to assist him with the event. The Polo Club is located at 14531 Ella Blvd. Please
let us know if you are able to assist Andy.
April 14: We will be participating in the University of Houston Downtown’s
Spring Fest Health Fair on Wednesday, April 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

please let us know!
April 15: LifeGift will be hosting its 2nd Annual Celebration of Life in the Texas Medical Center
on Thursday, April 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TMC Commons. Special thanks to Rex
& Linda Maus and Dallas Foster for providing part of the entertainment that day! Please
plan to stop by for the festivities. Rex Maus will be making an announcement about his new grassroots effort, Donate
Life Houston, to encourage more Houstonians to sign the Glenda Dawson Donate Life - Texas Registry.

United Healthcare’s Multicultural Health Festival on Saturday, April 24. We have the opportunity
to be visible in four multi-service locations across the City of Houston: Acres Homes Multi-Service Center, Northeast Multi-Service
